About
Matthew Fenton Smith (b. 1991) was raised on the South Shore of Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated from Mass. College of Art and Design in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts. From 2016 to 2022 he primarily focused on printmaking, specifically wood block and linocut, and exhibited in local pop-up shows.

From 2024-2025, while under Todd’s instruction, he continued his studies part time at Lyme Academy of Fine Arts in Connecticut in cast drawing and painting, human figure, and anatomy with David Baird, Edmond Rochat, and Rick Lacey, and has also studied figure drawing at the New Salem Museum Academy of Fine Art in March of 2026.
Matthew currently works and teaches out of his home studio in Brighton, MA. When he is not busy with current projects, he paints master copies at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
